Urban Mission

The Philadelphia District Church of the Nazarene is committed to reaching our cities with the love of Christ.  While our district covers a variety of rural and suburban areas, we have accepted the challenge to put special focus on our often neglected cities.  There are dozens of urban areas on our district, from Reading, PA to Bridgeton, NJ, our largest city is Philadelphia, where we have a concerted effort to show Christ’s love and bring a message of holiness and hope to so many who need to see and hear it.

Much of this effort is done through local congregations, serving and loving urban communities.  The district also supports and partners with Front Step, Inc, a faith-based non-profit that works to equip and empower urban individuals and communities to reach their full potential.  God is at work renewing our cities and the Philadelphia District is doing as much as we can to be a part of God’s mission in Philadelphia.
